Ingredients

  • 5 medium Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2" thick slices
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 heaping packed cup light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

Saute

  • Heat a large skillet over MED heat. Once hot, add butter, apple slices, ground cinnamon, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir to combine well.
  • Cook, stirring every couple of minutes, for 8-10 minutes, or until apples are starting to soften.

Make slurry

  • In a small mixing bowl, add water, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Whisk/stir to combine until smooth.

Thicken

  • Pour the slurry mixture into the skillet with the apples and stir.
  • Cook another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until sauce has thickened to your liking.

Cool and serve

  • Remove skillet from the heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  1. I've estimated this recipe serves 6, however the exact amount and size of the servings is up to you.
  2. Apples can be left unpeeled if you prefer.
