It’s apple butter’s super flavorful cousin… pumpkin butter! This spread comes together in 20 minutes and uses only 7 common ingredients… slather it on some rolls, bake with it, eat it with a spoon or give it as a great hostess gift this holiday season!
If you’ve never had pumpkin butter before, you’re in for a real treat! It’s SO flavorful… like a spoonful of Fall flavors! There’s actually no butter in it at all… it just a has a nice spreadable consistency, very similar to apple butter. Yikes, I sooooo need to re-take those photos lol. Pay no attention to the photos in that post…
This pumpkin butter is so good you can basically eat it with a spoon! In fact, some of it in those bowls might have been eaten in that exact manner 😉
I don’t have any step by step photos for this recipe because there’s honestly just one “step”. Add the ingredients to a pan, heat to a simmer, and simmer, stirring often for 20 minutes. Done. Take a spoonful to taste. Repeat many times. Hehe. Speaking of step by step photos… do you guys like when I do those? Or would you prefer to just have the final shots? Let me know 🙂

Remember those less than 1 hour dinner rolls I posted the other day? Those rolls and this pumpkin butter are a perfect match. A match made in Fall heaven! If that picture doesn’t make you want to grab a roll, slather on some pumpkin butter and chow down, I don’t know what will 😉
I found this recipe on Nestle’s Very Best Baking site, and just tweaked it ever so slightly. This is one recipe you just have to try if you love pumpkin!

- 1 oz can canned pumpkin 15, NOT pumpkin pie filling
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar packed, two thirds
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a low boil over MED heat, then reduce to LOW. Simmer, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes, until thickened and slightly darker in color.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
