Tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich garlic cream sauce, all made in the same pan, and ready in less than 30 minutes! #easyrecipe #weeknightdinner #dinnerrecipe #chicken #garlic #creamy #onepan #onepot #skilletmeal

Chicken breasts have a bad reputation for being dry and bland.  In this recipe, the chicken is moist and tender, and positively dripping with a velvety garlic sauce.  Definitely not bland at all!

For this recipe, I like to either buy thinly sliced chicken, or slice regular chicken breasts in half from right to left, opening them like a book.  This is a good photo tutorial, although I don’t usually pound the chicken.

The reason I do this, is two-fold.

  1. You can turn 2 chicken breasts into 4 cutlets, so it’s very economical.
  2. Thinner chicken cooks quicker, making this truly a 30 minute meal.

Dredging the chicken in a bit of flour helps give it a golden “crust”, and when you add the chicken back to the pan with the sauce, the flour helps thicken up the sauce.

Last but not least, DON’T clean out the pan between browning the chicken and making the sauce!  All those browned bits of chicken are pure flavor GOLD!

The beauty of this recipe is that it’s easy to make with other proteins as well!

We all get tired of chicken from time to time, so these are our favorite options:

  • Pork chops
  • Shrimp
  • Steaks
  • Salmon

I love versatile recipes, and this creamy garlic sauce is a great base to add other flavors to!

Some of my favorites are:

  • Asiago cheese
  • Fresh or dried herbs
  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Fresh spinach
  • Basil pesto
  • Mustard

While I think this meal is fabulous as is, you could serve it alongside some pasta for a truly stick-to-your-ribs dinner!

Making a pan sauce is my favorite way to make a sauce because you don’t have to dirty another pan!  Plus you get the added bonus of all the flavors of what was cooked in the pan before the sauce.

After the chicken has been browned on both sides and removed to a plate, add in a drizzle more oil and saute the shallot and garlic.

Add in the chicken stock and use a wooden spoon to really scrape the bottom of the pan.  This loosens up any browned bits and incorporates that flavor into the sauce.

Add in the cream and seasonings, stirring well.  Add in the cheese and butter and your sauce is complete!

This pan sauce method can be used to make just about any pan sauce you want!

  • Cast Iron Skillet – I use this pan for just about everything in my kitchen and it’s perfect for getting that amazing sear on the chicken.
  • Sharp Knife – I have a fancy Wusthof knife that I love (but is super pricey), but this knife is super close second for me, and you can’t beat the price!

  • 4 chicken breast halves
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour - (for dredging)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 shallots, - finely minced (or 1 small yellow onion)
  • 2 Tbsp finely minced garlic
  • 1 1/3 cups chicken broth or stock
  • 1 - 1 1/3 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese - (fresh is best)

  • Add flour to a shallow dish. Season chicken on both sides with a total of 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 1/4 tsp paprika. Add chicken to flour dish, one at a time, turning to coat lightly in flour.
  • Heat olive oil in heavy skillet over MED HIGH heat until hot. Add butter, then add flour-dredged chicken to skillet, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. If your pan is less than 12 inches across, you may need to brown the chicken in batches.
  • Cook chicken for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, until cooked and golden brown. Remove to a plate and set aside.
  • Reduce heat to MED LOW, and add a small drizzle of oil to pan (remember, DON'T clean it out!), then add shallots and cook for 2-3 minutes, until soft and fragrant. Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds or so.
  • Carefully pour in chicken broth or stock, scraping the bottom of the pan to loosen any browned bits. Pour in heavy cream and stir well to combine.
  • Cook 2-4 minutes, or until thickened slightly. Stir in 1/4 tsp each of pepper and Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Add chicken back to the pan, nestling them in and moving them around so the flour will help thicken the sauce.

If sauce isn't thickening up to your liking, mix 2 tsp of cornstarch with 1 Tbsp heavy cream and stir into the sauce.  Cook and stir another minute or so and it should thicken up nicely.

  1. I really want to try making this recipe for my boyfriend, but he HATES onion/shallots of any kind. Do you think this recipe will taste alright if I removed the onion/shallots from the recipe? Or are there any recommendations for a substitute to this ingredient? Thank you! This recipe looks so delicious and I can’t wait to give it a shot 😊

    • Does he hate onion flavor? Or is it the texture? If it’s just the texture, you could try adding about 1/2 tsp onion powder, or grating the onion instead of chopping it, so it dissolves into the sauce. If he hates the flavor, then honestly I’d just omit that ingredient 🙂

  2. Tasty and succulent ! Added button mushrooms to the sauce and omitted the parmesan. Served with rice and broccollini. Can’t wait till tomorrow night for the leftovers ! ❤

  3. Made this recipe tonight! I had to tweak a bit & substitute – based on what I had on hand & it was soooo good! I seasoned the flour that was for the dredge with the salt, pepper & paprika, increased the amt of flour to dredge 6 thin cutlets, instead of 4. Made a roux with a little olive oil, flour, that I was cooking the garlic (reduced amt to 1 1/2 T) and sweet onion in, after removing the chicken. (No shallots) No chicken broth or stock, used chicken boullion instead. I didn’t have cream, used 2% milk with abt 2/3 T of flour. Added the pepper, Italian seasoning & parmesan cheese, brought it to a boil, then reduced to med low heat, added chicken & simmered until the pasta was cooked. Sometimes you just have to improvise! It was a hit! My granddaughter even liked it (she’s a picky 11 y/o) I plan on making this again, maybe even with ALL the ingredients actually in the recipe. LOL.

  4. I almost didn’t make this recipe, because although it sounded delicious (what’s not to love about anything Creamy Garlic), the pictures didn’t look all that appealing. But, the reviews convinced me, and I’m glad they did.
I followed the recipe, except I used GF flour to dredge the chicken & 1/2 of a lg vidalia onion, in place of shallots. Also, I brined the breasts for 2 hrs. Not only was the chicken perfectly cooked, juicy & flavorful, but the sauce was so good I wanted to eat it with a spoon. Definitely a ‘Keeper’!!

  5. Loved it! Made it tonight and it was awesome. I’d probably add a bit more garlic but that’s just me, there’s no such thing as too much garlic for me. Great easy recipe. Thank you!!

  6. This is the best chicken recipe of all time. Who is the author?

  7. Loved this recipe. I added spinach to the sauce which was delish over pasta.

  8. Great quick recipe.  I added kale to the sauce and let cook when I added the chicken back to the dish.  Served with roasted vegetables.  Delicious

  9. Cream curdled. Bust.

  10. I just made this recipe and it was absolutely amazing. It was creamy and had so much flavor. My picky husband went back for seconds!

  11. It was a huge hit with everyone!

  12. I asked my 14 year old son to find me something good to make for dinner with chicken and this is what he sent me! It was an amazing dish. We loved it…. Definitely coming back for more recipes. Thank you

  13. Curious, I’m making this for dinner tonight, I don’t have heavy cream, or half and half, BUT I was wanting to make some noodles with this and use the sauce for noodles as well, does it make enough sauce to do so? I will only be using two chicken breast, so I’m hoping it’ll be enough extra sauce, and it’ll work out being thinner then thicker? Thoughts would be great ! 🙂

  14. Absolutely amazing! I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner and use what I had already and I came across this recipe. I love the chunky chef everything I try is absolutely delicious! This was another! Super easy, I did want the sauce a little more thick so I did use the corn starch and heavy cream. My family loved it even the picky 7 year old who only wants pizza rolls loved it! Now that’s a win!

  15. Great recipe! I didn’t have heavy cream but I did have whole milk which I thickened with tapioca powder. My husband and son loved it.

  16. Thankful for this recipe!! I was so tired of doing the same things with chicken and so was my family. I gave this a shot and it’s gotta be impossible to mess up!! The chicken came out juicy and flavorful and the sauce was perfect over a side of rice and Brussels sprouts as well. I did add the cornstarch and heavy whipping cream mixture to thicken it up at the end and it was perfect for us.

  17. This recipe was awesome!!!! Didn’t have chicken breast on hand but did have pork and followed the recipe as if using chicken. I highly recommend if you haven’t tried this with pork yet you should. Thank you for sharing your re ipe with us!

  18. My daughter in law made this and it was so good that I asked her for the recipe….  I will definitely make it myself & more than once!

  19. This was the best, creamiest, juiciest chicken recipe I’ve ever had! My boyfriend said it tasted better than any restaurant. Sooo great and so easy! I shared it with my family so that everyone can try it. The sauce didn’t thicken as much as I’d wanted so I did use the tip of cornstarch and heavy cream mixture.
I will definitely be making this again!

    • My kids loved this recipe and they said it tasted better than any restaurant dish! Also the cornstarch and cream tip really worked great to thicken the sauce. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  20. Made this tonight and it was great. I did get it a little salty but that’s my fault. It does have lots of flavor. I used half and half, added spinach and a smidge of mustard to the sauce, served it with egg noodles to put the sauce over. Yummy.

  21. I tried this recipe today and my family loves it so much so quick and easy and plus all the kids finished it and their veggies. Thank you so much

  22. I made this for dinner tonight. It was a hit. I did use different spices and added a can of mushrooms to the sauce. Awesome. Would be very good with shrimp or scallops over pasta as well.

  23. Saw this recipe and it just looked good so I made it last night….delicious! We have leftover gravy for either burgers or pork chops….I am not a person who steps outside my comfort zone but this was such easy recipe to follow and it was so so good!

  24. Awesome! Tastes great, and was easy enough for even a horrible cook like me to make! I live how everything is clear and precise, easy to understand and follow.

  25. Super tasty and easy as to make, made a great family meal in no-time and hardly any effort . thanks!!

  26. Yummy! Only ingredient I substituted was evaporated milk for the heavy cream…pajama kind of day and didn’t want to drive to the store. We poured the sauce over oven roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli…so good! Definitely a make again but may try to modify for the crockpot!

  27. I read this in the afternoon,, i made it for supper, and my husband loved the sauce. So did I,
its really a great recipe.. easy. tasty, easy to clean up… all in all a good 5 start one.

  28. I never leave reviews but I tried this a few weeks ago and it was a big hit!! I have picky eaters too and my son said he will help make this after school if I will just please make it again! Thanks for the recipe it is now in our weekly rotation! I did add some cornstarch to make sauce a bit thicker, everything else was perfect!

  29. WOW!! This was AMAAAAAAAZING! I made this last night and even my super picky 5 year old enjoyed it to the point of cleaning his plate – not a common event. My 6 year old dubbed me “the greatest cook in the world,” and my husband said the dish was perfect. I made a few substitutions and omissions out of necessity (and a teeny mistake), and it was STILL great. With no chicken broth, Italian seasoning, shallots, or fresh parm on hand, I used moscato, onions, ground thyme, and dried parsley as subs. My mistake was adding the seasonings to the flour, but I added a little more to the chicken as well and it was great!!! I’ll definitely make this again and again and again! Yum!!!🤤

  30. This is the best chicken I have ever made….I didn’t have heavy cream but used 1/2&1/2 and I believe it didn’t hurt the recipe at all.  I will be making this again and again.  Thank you

  31. I made this for Sunday dinner & I must say…it was GREAT!!!!!! I didn’t follow the recipe as is as I used a large “candy cane” onion from an Amish fruit stand & used that instead. Other than that…I followed EXACTLY! OH, MY GOODNESS! THAT is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!! I WANT to swear like a sailor! The kitchen smelled so good that it took ALL the WILLPOWER I DIDN”T have NOT to taste as I was going. I also didn’t have Parmesan cheese but I DID have Cojito ( I used that on Mexican corn on the cob & had some left over). I have NO idea what it tastes like with the Parm and not sure if I’d make it with it or not BUT it’s a GREAT substitute (FYI). Those few changes only made it much better to ME & my family LOVED it! It will be on my rotation.

  32. Quick and Yummy!
Adjusted the recipe to my liking.. adding spinach and extra Parmesan

  33. Winner, winner chicken dinner!! This was delicious! I served it over egg noodles. My hubby liked it so much he asked for a spoon so he could eat the leftover sauce like soup.

  34. I made this for dinner tonight because it looked easy to make.
As I was scrolling through I noticed all the positive feedback everyone left, not knowing I’d end up doing the same. Everyone in my family loved it and kept saying how good it was. My son even asked me for the recipe Thank you!!! 😋❤️❤️❤️

    • This was excellent! I did not halve the chicken breasts, so the chicken-to-sauce ratio was off but that was my fault, not the recipe! I’d recommend following the instructions as written or halving the sauce ingredients for two full chicken breasts. The sauce is very flavorful. This felt very lucious for a weekday meal and yet it was quick and easy.

  35. My family LOVED this! I added fresh spinach and cooked angel hair pasta to the pot and viola! a full meal in one pot! I’ve already been asked for an encore.

  36. My teenage son asks me to make this at least once a week. Even my picky daughters love this dish.

  37. I absolutely LOVE this recipe and your style!
My hubby likes it so much- made it twice in two weeks!
    Thank you so much!

  38. I will never use your website again.  72 pages for a simple recipe.  Forget it!!!!!

  39. I added white wine and it was amaaaaazing!! Thanks for this!

  40. Big thumbs up from my husband and 8 year old daughter. I substituted half & half for the heavy cream and oregano and thyme for the Italian seasoning.

  41. Quick & easy tasty dinner I added mushrooms & spinach 😋

  42. Added pesto and spinach. Used half and half and thickened with a little flour. Thanks!

  43. I’d give it 4 stars only because I used substitutes and less seasoning. My husband loved it and I think if I had followed the recipe, it would have been even better. I want to try it with shrimp and angel hair pasta.

  44. This is SO GOOD! Not only is it a new favorite meal, thanks to You/this recipe I have finally nailed how to cook chicken breasts. I was seriously so close to writing off chicken entirely. But now, I finally can cook amazing juicy chicken perfectly each time🙏

    • Thank you for saving us from another “chicken again?!?” night. Even got my 13 year eating dinner again!! Thank you for easy ingredients- actually had everything on had- extra bonus!!

  45. Looks great! The recipe is quite simple and easy to prepare, added to the menu for this weekend. We hope to enjoy the best One Pan Creamy Garlic Chicken Breasts with my family. Thanks and have a nice day!

  46. This is soooo delicious! I just started cooking recently upgrading from the good old shake n bake and this is not only pretty easy to cook it’s easily the best chicken I’ve ever had. My hubby loves it so thank you from the both of us😁

  47. This was a fabulous recipe. Everyone of us enjoyed it immensely. Would definitely do this again and again!

  48. Absolutely delicious!
Tip: I added flour and this definitely helped Thicken up the sauce as I was also having issues getting the sauce to thicken up and I didn’t have corn starch in hand . I also added a splash of sour cream! Yum!

  49. This recipe is delicious. I’ve made it a few times. 1) I cannot get the sauce to thicken, no matter what adjustments I’ve made; 2) it’s very messy. Plan for clean up time!

  50. This recipe is delicious, you don’t need to change a thing! It has become a once a week dish for us. Thank you

  51. My family loved it made it with broccoli on the side and pasta just needed garlic bread

  52. This was delicious. I used whole milk since I didn’t have cream and regular onion. I served with left over pasta and spinach…yummy!

  53. 5/5 stars! We had to add a little more cream to the sauce, but this was Husband, 7 year old and our 2 year old twins approved! So delicious! I actually made it with broccoli and mashed potatoes and the whole family raved. We are making it a second time, since the family keeps asking for it.

  54. OMG!!! This was so good! I made it last night for dinner. Served it over medium egg noodles. Whole family loved it! The only changes I made were I used an onion, since I don’t have shallots. I also put the salt, pepper and paprika in the flour, and was pretty liberal with the Parmesan cheese.. This is definitely going in my rotation! Finally something different to do with chicken breast!

  55. I breaded my chicken in dry ranch dressing powder. Browned in canola oil and butter. Other than that, o followed the recipe except I didn’t measure, I just went by consistency. This was the best sauce that I have made in a long time! Thank you for sharing!

  56. This chicken recipe is absolutely delicious. .added mushrooms and thickened a bit more…paired with rice and peas. Thanks for sharing.

  57. So delicious! I don’t measure the ingredients, just eye it and it always comes out. I serve the chicken and sauce over rice or roasted asparagus for a less carbs meal.

  58. Really delicious! I followed the recipe measurements but used sour cream in place of heavy cream as I didn’t have any. I also added a swirl of mustard to the sauce and mixed that in. So good! Because of the lower fat content of the sour cream, the sauce wasn’t as thick but it still had a great texture and I’m sure with a touch of butter and flour, it would have thickened nicely.

  59. This was a crowd pleaser for my family. I did thicken the sauce a little. Paired this with steamed mixed vegies, and Chicken Stove Top Stuffing. Easy, and delicious! Thank’s for sharing!

  60. Delicious

  61. Truly flavorful and tasty! Thank you for sharing❤️

  62. I make a few minor modifications, using what I had on hand. Garlic and Parm were unchanged. It was wa a hit. Everyone said it was delicious. We topped our side of mashed potatoes with some of the sauce for gar-par potatoes.

  63. My daughters said Awesome!!! Paired it with Holiday rice.

  64. Better than Italian restaurant meal!! My family loved it!!

  65. One of the best meals I ever had in my life. I’m making this a regular recipe forever. I can hardly wait to try the other versions like steak as the protein & fried mushrooms instead of parmesan cheese. Excellent.

  66. This recipe is great I’m African American and I love soul food so I paired this with baked Mac , collard greens and corn bread. It was perfect

  67. made this tonight. Spot on. No complaints.  Was really good.  Thank you.

  68. Made it for a quick dinner. SOO easy and delicious!! Thank you!
It’s going in the “permanent good recipes” section!

  69. This was easy and amazing. Had to improvise with what I had on hand. Family is wanting more!

  70. I made this tonight for the first time and it was amazing. I used a roasted garlic and herb seasoning instead of Italian and added a little flour to thicken the sauce. It turned out great my mom and brother loved it. I will definitely be making this again!

  71. I made this this afternoon and not only cut two chicken breasts into four but replaced leftover cream sauce from another meal with the Heavy cream. I added all the other ingredients and it turned out surprisingly moist and easy to cut. The sauce was very delicious especially with the onions and garlic. Very easy to make and didn’t take long. I will make it again. Thank you.

  72. We LOVED this recipe the chicken has the PERFECT flavour and the sauce really brought this meal together. So happy we found this recipe

    • Delicious, doubled the sauce to serve over pasta with a Caesar salad on the side. Awesome, I’ve made this dish dozens of times!

  73. Made this tonight. Fabulous!

  74. Super tasty! The leftovers were  great also. Thank you for a simple, wonderful recipe.

  75. I made this recipe two days ago and I’m still thinking about the great meal we had! Since there were two of us, we have another meal for this week! I didn’t change or add anything — the recipe for perfect as is!

  76. This recipe was very easy and tasty at the same time. Will definitely make it again.

  77. I made this and it was soooooo tasty! Hubby loved it too. I cooked some rice and stirred this in at the end so it had a it of a risotto feel.

  78. This recipe is not only easy but it is absolutely delicious! I added a bunch of spinach and mushrooms at the end to add more goodness to the recipe. I served the chicken breast on a bed of bow tie pasta. My family loved it. This will NOT be the first time we make this! Thank you for sharing!

  79. Yes I made it and it was great!!!

  80. Family of five just gobbled this up. No leftovers. This recipe is a keeper and I will definitely be making this again soon

  81. Wow, this was fantastic. Easy to follow, easy to make. Flavor was wonderful. I even jarred the left over cream sauce to freeze for a later dish.

  82. Today I made this recipe and it was amazing my whole family loved it. I made a few changes such as adding lemon, mushrooms and doubled the amount of garlic. I feel that this recipe would be amazing on its own.. the only change that I would make is that it needs the cornstarch added in the end to thicken the sauce. The flavor of the sauce was so good that it could be poured over rice amazing.

  83. I made this the other night for my wife son daughter in law and granddaughter who is 11 said it was the best chicken they have ever eaten and for myself it was delicious. Warmed the leftovers in a sauce pan the next day and still tasted great just add a little cream in it thanks almost sick of chicken novice.

  84. Great taste. I will make again!

  85. Absolutely delicious! All 3 of my children ate all their meat (I have one who barely eats meat), and had seconds. Definitely will be keeping this recipe handy. It was a quick meal I did finish off chicken in the oven because mine were full breast and not cutlets and used vidalia onions because there were no shallots in the store. Other than that I followed the recipe.

  86. My family absolutely LOVED this.
I had thawed out chicken breasts and had no idea how to make them. Tired of the same ole same ole. Came across this and decided to give it a try. Good decision. Served with rice and broccoli. Spooned the sauce over the rice.

This will definitely be in my rotation!

  87. About to make this recipe a second time, this time for a crowd.  It’s just REALLY good.  And everyone will like it.

  88. This was so good! I used half of a white onion because that’s what I had available. I added (cooked) thin spaggetti at the end. It had a lot of sauce which I loved. So yummy! I will definitely make it again.

  89. This was absolutely delicious! So much flavor! Used cornstarch instead of flour and served over gluten free pasta, excellent GF meal. It was a special occasion and the meal certainly measured up. Only recommendation is to have everything measured and ready to go before starting, I’m a novice at cooking and everything moved pretty quickly.

  90. It was really good! Only thing is my sauce came out very watery maybe I’ll cut back in the broth or just add a bit of flour to the pan when degreasing it with the onions. But other than that it was very good!

  91. So Yummy! Will recommend. Thank you!

  92. Super AMAZING! thank you for the recipe. Second time making it. I love that i was able to add a little bit of turmeric and curry powder and it was still delicious!

  93. Fantastic recipe! I used boneless chicken thighs cut into bite sized pieces and added Portobello’s mushrooms. I also used almond milk and regular milk along with the cream to cut down on some fat (although the cream really makes this dish). I love this recipe because it’s quick, easy, delicious, and versatile. Try adding guyrere cheese with the parnesan..tastes great! Broccoli would be good with this recipe as well! We served it over angel hair pasta ☺️

  94. Omg so good! I only had beef broth so i used that. My husband doesn’t like anything with a strong garlic taste and he loved this. Will definitely make it again! Thank you

  95. Great recipe Spinach

  96. Made this tonight for dinner for the first time. But definitely will not be the last time! My children and spouse were fighting over the sauce it was so delish! Recipe can easily be adjusted to keto way of eating. Skip flour dredging and add xantham gum to thicken the sauce. So so so good!!

  97. My family loved it. Easy to make. I served it with rice.

  98. Made this tonight and my husband thanked me for a wonderful meal!!! I had to substitute sour cream for heavy cream, as another commenter suggested, and it was delicious. I served it over linguine (I didn’t have fettucine), with breadsticks and salad from our garden.

    Thank you for this recipe!!

  99. I made this tonight and it was a hit. Super yummy!!

I have a question though…instead of using wheat flour to coat that chicken, can you use coconut or almond flour? Would it thicken the sauce like the wart flour does?

    • So glad you loved it!! I think you could totally use almond or coconut flour 🙂 I’ve not used them, so I can’t say if it would thicken the same way, but if you find it’s not thickening the same, just whisk together about a tablespoon of cornstarch (or arrowroot) with a tablespoon and a half of water (until smooth), and then stir in into the sauce.

  100. Making this dish for the third time this evening. The family loves it! I use a lot of garlic, and it tastes terrific. I really like that the chicken is seasoned before it is dusted in flour and fried. The chicken is well flavored, and I don’t waste any spices by mixing them in the flour and then throwing away whatever flour mixture is not used.

  101. Just finishing making for my wife. We loved it. Excellent taste. Easy to make. Thank you.

  102. Hi! Don’t hv stock ir chicken broth… any substitute for that?

  103. I made this last night and it was delicious. I substituted sour cream for heavy cream and it worked perfectly well. I served it with new potatoes and kale salad and the family loved it. Quick and easy to make too. Excellent.

    • How much sour cream did you use? I only have sour cream at home and I don’t feel like running to the store for heavy cream! Just wondering what the amount was so I can use sour cream instead.

  104. Chicken was amazing! Sauce needed some white wine and a lot more flour to thicken. We added Asiago instead of Parmesan and wilted spinach in the sauce just before serving with fettuccine. So versatile and definitely a crowd pleaser, I’ll be using this recipe in the future!

  105. I made this today and it was very good but next time I will be adding mushrooms

  106. I made this the other night and served it with pasta and a salad! It was delicious. I shall be keeping this recipe.

  107. Can I make this recipe with no flour?

    • You can, but you’ll likely have to make a slurry of cornstarch and water mixed together, then added to the sauce to thicken it (since it won’t have the flour to thicken)

  108. Delicious! My picky family loved it and we will make it again. Thanks for such a nice recipe!!

  109. If I don’t have any fresh garlic on hand can I use minced garlic (the type that’s pre-minced in little jars)?

  110. Easy recipe and so delicious! Flavor is amazing and chix breast was moist and soft Thnks

  111. It was a delicious recipe.  Since we have been social distancing and avoiding grocery stores as much as possible, it’s nice to find flavourful recipes that have common ingredients.

  112. Going to make this today what can I use instead of cheese

  113. OMG! Just finished making this recipe & still eating, couldn’t wait to post. I was looking for an easy recipe for chicken breasts & when I saw garlic, it was a no brainer. I used a bit more garlic than called for. This is the best ever. Creamy & garlicy, & chicken moist. It was perfect which I don’t accomplish too often. My husband & I absolutely loved it & I’ll be making again soon. Thank you so much.

    • So good! I used brown rice flour, added sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, mushrooms and spinach. Delicious!

  114. This is a keeper. Simple, fast and absolutely delicious! One of the best sauces I’ve ever had.

  115. Delicious! My picky family loved it and we will make it again.

  116. I just made this and it’s too good. My kids loved it. Thank you so much for this delicious recipe!

  117. This is a great base recipe to customize! I used it to make a creamy lemon garlic chicken. I didn’t have parmesan, and at the end, I stirred in fresh lemon juice. I added pre-cooked rice, to soak up the yummy sauce!

  118. I just made these and they are too good! My kids loved them do much. Thank you for this delicious and easy recipe!

  119. This was excellent ….. my husband said this was the best recipe I have ever made ….. and I am not a great cook.  Thanks!

  120. Thank you this was delicious!!! I added mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes and it was a hit!!! I’m resorting a lot to online recipes since we’ve had shelter in place.

  121. SO Yummy! Tossed some pasta in with the extra sauce, made a delicious meal! Had to add a little corn starch to thicken to our liking, but great flavour and great reheated.

  122. Delicious. Loved the flavors and the chicken texture was perfect. I behaved and resisted eating the leftover sauce with a spoon. Dinner with this chicken as the centerpiece was a total success.

  123. I am impressed with myself (even though I followed YOUR recipe 🙃). This came out amazingly. We never buy chicken breasts but it’s all the store had. I did slice them in half and even then was scared that they were too thick and would be dry and tough. Not at all! This was amazing. I served it over spaghetti noodles (all I had) seasoned with butter and garlic salt and it was a perfect combination. I’d intended on using an Alfredo sauce but the chicken sauce was so good that I did t want to lose all of that flavor. I sliced the chicken and it was so juicy and tasty. This was just wonderful. 5 stars. I never comment on recipes but this one made me come back just to let you know.

  124. This was just amazing! I added a lot more garlic than it called for. I also did a cheese combo fresh parm and fresh romano and 1 1/3 cup of whipping cream so we could poor the sauce over noodles. This was a huge hit. My family said this tastes like something you would get served in a good Italian Restaurant.

  125. This recipe is INCREDIBLE! The only change I made was to add 1/4 cup of powdered Alfredo sauce to the milk/chicken stock mixture. The resulting meal was a HUGE hit with a 100% success rate. With a picky husband; an autistic son who is finicky about new foods, flavors, and especially textures; and a daughter is afraid of flavor, this is a REALLY BIG DEAL.

Thanks so much – I’m definitely bookmarking this recipe, because it’s a keeper. 🙂

  126. Excellent! Will add to my standards for easy supper entrees. Didn’t have cream so used about 3/4 cup half and half and thickened with corn starch as suggested. Delicious.

  127. YUM! Garlic, Chicken, Cream and Cheese…what is there not to like about this recipe! Quick and easy. Thank you for the tip of slicing the chicken breasts in half!

  128. This was easy and delicious. My family loved this dish. Will look at other recipes

  129. Amazing! We added some chopped mushrooms to give a really creamy mushroom flavour served with mash and kale 😍

  130. Excellent easy recipe. I didn’t have heavy cream so I used 2% milk and added a little flour (about a tbsp) to it to thicken it up a little. I used beef broth as that’s what I had on hand. Was very good! I’m sure it’ll taste even better when I use chicken broth. Thanks for this recipe it’s a keeper.

    • I think I’m gonna try it with the milk tonight like you did.i don’t have sour cream or heavy cream unfortunately..I hope it turns out.

  131. Loved this, it was easy to follow and came out nice! I followed the directions exactly, but used my own judgment to season the chicken breasts, before dredging them. I’m currently working on losing weight and I use a meal logger, I see the calories are 780. Is that per 4 breasts or 1?? Thank you for sharing!

    • So happy you loved the recipe! The calorie count (estimated) is for 1 serving, which would be 1 breast, however, it’s assuming you also consumed 1/4 of the cream sauce.

  132. This was delicious and a hit at our home! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  133. This has got to be one of the best recipes I’ve tried this year in flavour, texture and ease to make. The chicken was so tender and juicy. The Italian seasoning in the sauce gave it an amazing boost in flavour. The family couldn’t get enough of it. The sauce wasn’t as heavy as other cream and alfredo type sauces. I added extra flour to thicken the sauce, which tasted delicious over pasta. A definite keeper!

  134. Delicious! Added some white wine to it and I was out of Italian seasoning so I used basil, parsley, and thyme. Served with rice but would be amazing with pasta! Will be adding this to the rotation.

  135. This was well worth the effort!!! Huge hit with the family, even the kid with the picky tastes. Thanks very much for sharing this!

  136. This was a hit with my two picky boys! Thanks!

  137. I made this for my 7-year old and we both loved it. I served it over mashed potatoes with balsamic sauteed vegetables. We cleared our plates. I’ll make this again.

  138. So easy, and absolutely delicious!

  139. I am completely in love with this dish. I love the idea of creamy sauce way more that i tried dish third time. Now just want to know what we can use instead of chicken for vegans, my husband Jordan is vegan and i want to taste him this sauce. I don’t know whats wrong with him, but he is having vegan meals from past 8 months, he is behaving like, he can cook meat for me but he cant eat. So, Amanda please help me with that. Thank you.

    • So happy you love this dish! Hmm, we’re not vegan so I don’t have a lot of experience with vegan cooking… but I would say to use vegetable broth/stock instead of chicken, and maybe swap the chicken for extra firm tofu? Or you could leave the “meat” component out completely and use this sauce over some pasta?

  140. This was AMAZING! So good.1

  141. Delicious and versatile. Great quick recipe.

  142. Wonderful recipe! My family & picky kids loved it!

  143. This was delicious, however, I used almost twice as much seasoning. I used a combination of goat cheese and garlic cheese crumbles. My family liked it very much but we did make the sauce thicker to cling to the pasta.

  144. Another 5 star recipe!! Followed recipe exactly. The sauce is outstanding!!! Adjusted just a bit to taste by adding a bit more cheese and dash of salt. Great dish for company! Thank you, once again, Amanda!!! Keep ’em coming!!

    • I just made this dish, I had to use light cream though. (Store out of heavy) . But it did get thick. Everyone enjoyed it.

  145. Cooked this for Dinner and added some mushrooms, it was delicious, since there is only 2 of us we have enough for another night, that’s always good

  146. Made the meal tonight for my family. I added spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms. The chicken was moist and tasty. The sauce was great!! We’ll be making it again and sending the recipe to our friends!  Thanks so much!!

  147. Ingredients list would be nice

  148. I made this recipe using cream of mushroom soup and beef stick, with a little bit of corn starch to make it more gravy like And it came out absolutely incredible. This will def become my goto recipe next time we entertain guests!! It probably would go fantastic with some mashed potato side too!

  149. It took a little longer for me using fresh garlic and a touch of turmeric  but then I decided to add some fresh mushroom and wow it was over the top and everyone loved this recipe. Thank u 🙏🏽

  150. My family loved this. They said it was one to make again. I did add some cornstarch to help thicken it.

  151. Deliscious i will make this again.

  152. I made this it was delicious made a few tweets just delicious.

  153. Super easy and so delicious. The chicken was so flavorful and tender. Thank you–will be making this again soon!

  154. This was truly an amazing dish. I made white rice to soak up the sauce, and it was perfect.

  155. We loved this even though my sauce never thickened.  However I did add spinach to the plan with the garlic.  It was delicious, but I think it may have affected the sauce.  Wish it wasn’t so caloric, but it was so good I’ve give it 10 Stars!

  156. So good!! Huge hit with my boys and husband and super easy thank you! 👍

  157. Simple and easy. Very easy sauce to modify ti fit any occasion.

  158. Delicious, made it this evening with pasta and everybody loved it. Chicken was soft and succulent and the sauce was to die for, 10/10.

  159. This recipe is soo good! Definitely worth trying and I will definitely keep on cooking it.
I didn’t have any heavy cream so I just made my own by temping milk with hot butter and it turned out delicious, and I added my own herb blend.
    Loved it and thanks

  160. SO delish! Thank you for this amazing recipe ❤️ Made as directed with necessary minor adjustments,  and a good tip for thickening 🙂
~Don’t skimp on EVOO & butter each step!
~no cream etc? Substitute regular milk + extra butter (room temp milk best, and add 1 Tbs lemon juice to the Milk to make it buttermilk-y… let sit 5+ min)
~to thicken sauce: once onions are close to done (~4-5 minutes of sautéeing) & garlic has been added, add 2 Tbs butter, melt down, add 4Tbs flour: sprinkle on top of onion/garlic, mix it around, turn heat up a bit for 2-3 minutes, mixing all the while to cook down the flour (similar to a roux)
~follow rest of recipe, and reviewers suggestions to add spinach!
~(ps- if you’re adding tarragon or some other herb, this recipe can no longer be called “garlic”, ‘cause they’ll overwhelm the show! It’s OK! just be prepared)
~Thanks @chunkychef for this amazing dish that will forever be on rotation in our kitchen ❤️

  161. Thanks for the recipe. The family loved it. No more boring chicken.

  162. Tried this recipe today for lunch & it was SOOOO delicious!
The sauce reminds me of an alfredo sauce- even better!
Can’t wait to try it again!

  163. Sounds delicious, cant wait to make it! If I want to add spinach to it, at which point would I put it in? Thank you

  164. Oh yum, yum, YUM!!! This recipe is a keeper!! I used tenderloin chicken strips and it worked beautifully! Didn’t have heavy cream so I used the coconut milk inside of my fridge. Didn’t have chicken stock so I poured 1-1/3 c water and added 2t “Better than Buillion” vegetarian flavor. To thicken, I took the hot broth and leftover flour from dredging and whisked that together. My husband LOVED it!!  Thank you, 5 stars!

  165. This was super easy, and both guys loved it. I added spinach and the dish was even better.

  166. I great recipe. I made it for the family and it’s a keeper. I used half and half instead of heavy cream, and it was fine.  I also added sun dried tomatoes,. It was delicious. Next time we are going to add mushrooms.

  167. Delicious recipe.  I had no cream so I used half and half with cornstarch.  Also had no Fresh Parm so I used Pecorino. Thank you Chunky Chef for a great recipe!  Locked up inside, looking for fun new recipes to try.  This is a winner!

  168. Excellent! I won’t change a thing, except, of course, adding my love.

  169. I tried this recipe and I must say that it turned out pretty good! I added some red pepper flakes and spinach. I served it with a green salad and bow tie pasta. My family loved it! Thank you.

  170. This was easy and delicious. I used milk and a little half and half to cut down on fat.

  171. easy and quick, good flavor. I didn’t have parmesan cheese and didn’t use italian spices, just salt and pepper and it was still fantastic.

    • Awesome for my family! Pretty much followed the recipe. But fried the chicken and finished in the oven. Will definitely make again!! LOVED IT!!

  172. Awesome recipe! I added extra cheese and also added a little extra flour because the sauce wasn’t as thick as we wanted. Otherwise, followed exactly and it turned out AMAZING.

  173. Wow! This was so easy and delicious. I didn’t have cream so I used fat free half and half and I cut liquids down 1/2 cup between the stock snd cream. Heavenly!

  174. Amazing! Delicious! My boyfriend said it was a better version than Olive Garden ; ) hehe. But I did have to make a substitution due to lack of supply but nonetheless worked out fine. I didn’t have the onion so I just put onion powder in with the garlic. Also struggled making the sauce thick-I always struggle with this…I did the corn starch suggestion that didnt do much so I sprinkled some flour and then let it cool and BOOM thick sauce!! It was amazing. Thank you so much for this recipe!!

  175. What if you dont have chicken broth? Can I use something else?

    • You could use water, but add a tablespoon or so of butter with it, to give it a touch more flavor. I’ve not tested this recipe other than as written, so I can’t guarantee it’ll taste the same.

  176. Dairy Free Version absolutely delicious!
Followed recipe but instead of butter used plant based butter (I’m allergic to milk protein) in combination with olive oil. For cream substitute I’ve used oatmeal cream and for parmesan cheese substitute I’ve used nutritional yeast. My kids loved it even though one of them is a finicky eater.
    Thank you for the recipe.

  177. A keeper!  This tastes so fresh and delicious.  It is quick and easy.  I had chicken stock and used half heavy cream, half, half-n-half, chicken stock, and added turmeric with the paprika, salt and pepper.  Honestly, I didn’t measure anything at all.  Just put olive oil and about two pats of butter in the pan, cut one extra large chicken breast into about 9 tenders, and followed the recipe from there. Everyone in my family loved it! We will make this at the beach when we go this Summer to SC!
Thanks for a great recipe to add to my collection!

  178. This chicken was absolutely delicious! I had it with rice, broccoli and cauliflower. With the leftovers I plan on making some fusilli noodles and tossing the extra chicken and sauce into it. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

  179. Sliced breast in 1/2 long way, pounded, brined for 30 minutes, then followed recipe.  Wicked tasty and tender.

    • I made this last night for my family.
This dish is so filling! We had Mushroom ravioli with it and I added Laccinato Kale to the sauce for color and for veggies. We also had broccoli too.
Everyone loved it and said that it should be written in our family book! It is a keeper!

  180. What can I use in place of heavy cream. Trying to cut some calories.

  181. This recipe was amazing! My whole family loved it, even my picky 9 year old finished his plate. I used a yellow onion and I used an Italian cheese mix (mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, provolone and Asiago) and probably doubled the cheese because, well cheese. Freaking amazing!!

  182. Made this dish tonight. My Family Loved it.

  183. Hi,  doesn’t say how long to cook after adding chicken bacon in at the end

  184. This right here is definitely by far one of my favorites now! I followed the recipe for the most part and me and my kids loved it! I had to add more flour to thicken up at end because i didn’t have corn starch! But it turned out so amazing!

  185. I made this for myself and my boyfriend last night. It was easy to make, I happened to have all of the ingredients on hand, and it was delicious. It’s going into our recipe rotation:)

  186. I made it and my very picky husband absolutely loved it. The chicken was wonderful, tender and the gravy delightful! I’ll be making it again for sure.

  187. This was delicious and I substituted evaporated milk for the cream, but I was curious if the 780 calories was per serving/piece of chicken or for the whole recipe and I divide it by 4? Thanks!

  188. I tried this recipe with the chicken, it was the best thing I ever made and tonight I want to try with shrimp, would I use just 1lb of shrimp, like with the chicken?

  189. This recipe was so tasty and quick. I used tarragon in the cream sauce and it was fantastic. Will make it again and try different variations of herbs and spices.

  190. I made this recipe and served over pasta tossed in garlic butter. Very tasty. Added sauteed mushrooms, and 1/3 cup chopped sun dried tomatoes packed in oil which benefited the combination.

  191. Very tasty. Made rice to go with

  192. This dish is a winner!! Made it easily. Didn’t follow recipe to ther exact but mostly. Recommend this dish to all! Thanks!

  193. Made this and did use the parmesan. The cheese added so much to the flavor of the sauce! We had it with little potatoes and asparagus. It was fantastic!

  194. Just made this. No variations. It is delicious! Even my picky husband liked it. I will be making again!

  195. I tried this recipe and it is delicious. I don’t usually like chicken breast but it is so tender that I will definitely make this again

  196. Absolutely delicious!!!!

  197. Pasta and broccoli make the perfect sides with the gravy. This recipe is delicious!!!!

  198. Nutrition chart?

    • As I’m not a nutritionist, I don’t provide full nutritional information for my recipes (don’t want to inadvertently pass along incorrect information). Your best bet would be to copy the ingredients into your favorite online nutritional calculator.

  199. JuSt made this dish tonight, I did t have any Parmesan cheese ,  it oh my… delicious 😊

  200. Love it! Was delicious! Will make again and again!

  201. Next time I will leave out the parmesan cheese. It has a great flavor before the cheese the chicken turned out very moist and fairly tender

  202. I’m trying to make this recipe and I’m confused on how much heavy cream and chicken broth to use. Do I use two cups and 1/3 for the heavy cream or just one and 1/3 cups, one time?

I’m actually making the recipe right now so I hope you get this message right away!

    • Sorry, on the weekend days I’m with my family… but it’s one to one and a third cups, meaning this amount can vary from 1 cup to 1 and a third cups from person to person and preference to preference.

  203. Awesome! Will make this again! Did not have cheese or the cream so I substituted milk and butter for cream and just eliminated the cheese all together. I served a spaetzle noodle to go with this. This is a awesome dish and very easy to make. My family loved it!

    • I dont use heavy cream either as never have in house so I made a home made bechamel sauce using 1percent milk…butter ….2 tablespoons flour

  204. My husband made this for dinner last night and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! A keeper for sure! We had it over rice. The sauce was super yummy!

  205. So, yummy! A save. Plus easy. Thanks for this. 2nd recipe of yours I have made. Pleases the teen boy bellies.

  206. Omg this was absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you! I think it had to be the best thing I’ve ever made!!! I will be making this many more times that’s for sure!

  207. Absolutely amazing
Best chicken recipe. Chicken breast super tender and moist. And the garlic sauce super delicious. I served it with mashed potatoes

  208. Very tasty! Used boneless chicken thighs and made pasta bow ties and used sauce on pasta and paired it with zucchini and yellow squash. Was a hit and definitely make again!

  209. This was very tasty my family loved it 👌🏽

  210. I had to thicken the sauce but it was just delicious….my husband loved it!

  211. This was a great dinner! My sauce didn’t thicken so next time I will use a roux of butter and flour after the shallots for a thick sauce! The flavor of the sauce was amazing, can’t wait to make again!

  212. Easy to make and delicious!

  213. This recipe was fantastic! I omitted the flour since I am on the Keto diet, but used grated Parmesan cheese instead. Girl this was so delicious! Thank you so much for this delicious recipe!

  214. I tried this recipe this afternoon and it was easy and delicious.
Your blog post is amazing, I love your content and website. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to such a more wonderful work from your side.
